How to ensure employer responds to my job application? |
I am a banker looking to change from my present job. I have tried sending my CV to some employers by seeing ads given on job sites like Monster but have got no response from any of them. How to go about searching and finding the right job? Does reference helps? Good luck. I don't know why companies, especially the ones with automated systems that provide you an email your resume has been receive for review can't be professional enough to at lease respond back and say they filled the position. I know it's frustrating, I was in banking also. With all the layoffs from Mortgage Banking and there's more to come, there are more people looking for work then ever. The stats are incorrect on the unemployment rate. The economy is worse shape then letting on, the Gov't doesn't want a recession, but I feel we are there. If you're young enough, you might want to consider trying some restaurant work, till something solid comes through and not sit around "waiting for the water to boil" so to speak. If you get a phone number when you apply, write it down and Follow up!! If you don't, and this is common w/ sending your resume out via on line, just keep a book of everyone you have contacted and the dates, salary etc. Don't give up, but get out there and start doing something now, before you are in financial straits. Good luck... I too have come across that problem in this tough market on- line applications tend to be ignored. I would try to go visit a manager or personnel in person. I would show them your urgency and willingness to work for the company by making a person contact. Send a note (possibly thank you note) to the one hiring, say something like, "thank you for giving me the opportunity to apply on-line I would really like to meet you in person for an interview. Please call me,,,, etc... Try calling someone direct and explain how you applied on-line and would like to get in contact with the person doing the hiring. The aggressive person gets the job in this market. |
