What bank/financial services seems to pay the most to their employees overall? (Large and small)?

I don't know how relevant this answers is now. But I have been in the mortgage industry for over 12 years and I've worked for everyone from the large banks like Chase, large mortgage companies, like Countrywide and smaller mortgage brokers. I have found that the smaller the company the larger the check but way more responsibility. What usually happens in the smaller business is that they are paying you more because you know what your doing and they don't. When it comes to these situations I can usually negotiate a base salary, commission and an overall cut but I usually end up doing all the work. But if I where working at a larger company I can usually expect a higher base salary, overtime, much better benefits and a lot less responsibility.
