Can I become a Financial Adivsor with bad credit? |
My husband and i separated I moved out of the house he was responsible for paying the mortgage he didn't and in return has affected my credit. All of my other bill are being paid fine it is just that one. Will this affect me in getting hired or not? or is it up to the company I am looking to work for? Hiring company would have to put up a bond for every financial adviser they hire. So, it is certain that they will do a credit check on any potential hire. Also they would need to make sure that a person they hired to be a financial adviser can be successfully register with NASD. Criminal record is definitely a "No". Given that bad credit record isn't criminal it is not going to stop you from becoming registered. But a bad credit could potentially mean they have to put up more money for your bond if the regulatory agency demands it. The door isn't completely shut but it would be better to tell them your situation when you get the the appropriate point during the contract negotiation stage of your interview. So that they wouldn't be surprised. That way at least you get to explain the situation rather than being rejected without a chance to please your case. Best wishes. |
