Is stockbroking still a legitimate career?

Ive heard some people say stockbrokers are a dieing breed...do you think this is true? I was hoping in majoring into some kind of business or economics field and go into stockbroking but if they may be non-existent in 30 years what the point? What do you think?

Answer:? YES

Here's WHY?

In the next 25 years:

- 78 Million Baby Boomers will retire.
- 2005-2030

- They have $1.7 Trillion in Assets
which are maturing.

This is a goldmine for the Financial Services Industry and especially for:

- FInancial Advisors
- Stock Brokers
- Certified Financial Planners
- Bankers

A position such as a "Financial Advisor" would be a great career.

Go to: www.wellsfargo.com (CAREERS); and check out these positions and job titles and learn more about the career opportunities. This is one of America's most admired financial services companies, and the Oldest Bank in the West. Financial Services (Banking) has been around for over 300 years. And it will still be a great field in 30-100 years from now and longer. Just look at the history of the USA and the development of America and your thoughts to enter this field will be rewarded with the entreprenuerial spirit that you bring and the services that you could provide to consumers.

Another note 75% of the population of the US has moved to the Western States over the past 200 years and this trend will continue so be sure that your business or your career is in one of the states West of the Mississippi for the best opportunities.

Best of luck in your career endeavors in Finance.

GOOD LUCK! :-) Source(s): Financial Services - Goldmine 2005-2030 and YOU! :-)
it is here to stay. go ahead learn how to figure out the stockbrokers math. you can even learn to read it just by majoring in business and when you feel that you no long seem excited or lose interest. venture on a business of your own.

there is nothing constant but change. we can all bet on that.
nah. not at all.
Some would argue that stockbrokerage was NEVER a 'legitimate' career (LOL). Certainly, there's a lot more people do their investing on their own. Usually, the term for such people is 'fool'.

Perhaps what you want to consider is a career as a Financial Planner. FP's help their clients identify their goals, evaluate their resources and then work with them to find the best possible strategies to acheive their objectives. They also implement and monitor the progress of the plan, updating and modifying as neccesary. Several jurisdictions require that one follow a course of study leading to a recognised designation such as "Certified Financial Planner (CFP)" or "Registered Financial Planner (RFP)" in order to legitimately call one's self a financial planner.
