Should I get this new job?My 2 aunts approved it except my present employer(my 3rd aunt).Any sound advice?tnx? |
I am working as a cashier attendant in my eldest aunt's internet cafe after College w/ a degree in Business Administration. My aunt accepted me to fill the vacancy.Currently,i enjoy working as a cashier in the cafe even if we are paid less than minimum.I am happy here coz I have a wonderful co-worker,made many friends & less pressure bec. the owners are my relatives.I feel at home here. Then a bank teller job was offered to me & will be taking my exam tomorrow. But i am unsure to take this job coz I will miss many things & people i learned to love.If I quit here,my aunt(owner)will get upset at me since they trusted me so much.I'm afraid I might be disowned & totally be on my own.My 3 aunts(2 are abroad in US)paid to finish my college, apartment rent, water & electricity since my grandma is living with my unemployed dad & my mom left us.I feel I can't raise my dad on my own even if i have a bank teller job.If I would be able to pay for the bills, still might not be enough left for savings. Staying at your present job will be a waste of your education and University degree. You must now take your chances in the big wide world outside the nest and build a proper career. I am sure your aunt will agree if you explain things to her nicely. Tell her you love her and are grateful for her doing so much for you. And that now you hope she will still be there for you to help you in your new career. You have my best wishes also They own you now. Just kidding. Do you have intentions of paying them back the money? If you do, you will have to go forward and use your new knowledge to get ahead in life. That way you can repay them in actual money. If you feel they are keeping you tethered to the family business is their way of letting you pay them back, then you better have a talk and see how long they want this to go on. It's your life and you ultimately have to do what you feel is right for you. Good luck. That's a tough one. I just started a job at an entry level position at an accounting and tax service small business. Like REALLY SMALL. Only 3 employees, me and another guy being the only full-timers. I knew absolutely nothing of finance when I took this job. I was just looking for a data entry job which it was advertised as. It does include data entry, but data entry of 1040 tax returns, clientelle payroll, and quarterly returns among all this other stuff I haven't learned yet. My mom is moving out to California for a year and luckily I have a place to go...my dad's. He lives with his wife who's a REAL witch sometimes and even though I only see him like once every 2 weeks, when we talk about my moving there after my mom moves to California, he is always hinting at me getting my own place, BUT I don't make enough money to do that. He always hints about it when the witch is around too, so I think she puts him up to it. I know where you're coming from--being torn between what to do and what not to do. Talk to your aunt(s) and tell them about the job and that you'll be making more money. Maybe it'll soften them up. |
