Is being an accounant relly that bad? |
I always hear about people who work in accounting for a few years, but absolutely hate it and then go on to do whatever. Is it really that bad, Im an accounting student and Its really the only thing that Ive ever been good at that I could turn into a career. Is my life going to be awful. no silly your life is not going to be awful....i am an accountant and i love my job....its not the numbers that i love...its my clientelle....these people look to me for financial advice and some say they would be lost without me.... believe it or not, i hate math and cant add for crap but thats being spoiled to the adding machine....its a great feeling to reconcile a set of books and be able to show something for your work (especially if the particular set of books is kicking your @ss)...enjoy your job and dont sweat it....you'll feel very fulfilled with your career choice and if you dont then you can always change careers You have to have a certain personality to be a long haul accountant dealing with numbers constantly and going through the tax season. An alternative after graduating is to get your CPA and apply to the FBI. It's not that bad if you can stay at your desk for hours. I am an accountant, and my husband used to be one. He hated it bc he couldn't stand sitting all day. I like it bc it's a good pay, less stressful, rewarding career. You even have free time surfing in the internet. What do you think all these people answering you at this Yahoo Answers?! regardless of your career choice, your life will only be awful if you choose it to be. It can also be the most rewarding thing you've done in your life. I know some accountants who have moved on to other careers after a few years, and I know other accountants who wouldn't want to do anything else. It's a personal thing.... CPA for 8 years, 25+ years in accounting, banking, and finance Accounting is a great profession and it really depends on you how you make or break your career.
