I graduated from college with finance degree in May. Its Sept now, I still cannot find a job. NEED HELP? |
I have done everything I can think of, attend career fairs, read "knockem dead job search 2007" ( books ), reworked my resume, network and attend nation conventions. I graduated in may 2007 with a finance degree, all the employers I contacted turned me down, saying my resume is notable, but no jobs at this time. I am running out of money quickly and live by myself. If I dont get a job soon, it will be a bad situation. I got loans from college coming up in by the end of december, pay for my own life/health insurance, car. I need detail answers on what steps I should do to help myself get a career in finance to have a good life style. Is the finance job market out there terrible? Are other finance majors having the same problem as me? Maybe you should move to another city. Raleigh, NC has a great job market. A big move might be what you need. I hope this helps. First - what jobs are you applying for? You need to start at the bottom, whether you are a graduate or not. You are probably applying for jobs too high up the ladder, so are not being considered due to lack of security. The Finance industry, world wide, is doing well. So - start looking at graduate or entry level roles that are advertised, and check out websites for various financial companies to see if they have graduate programs. Also - what sort of finance do you want a career in? Banking? Financial Services? Accounting? Financial Planning? Remember - start small to grow big!
