How can i get a job this summer? |
hi my names arash, well here my problem i cant find a job, eveywhere i apply, fast food, restaurant, etc they dont call me, i have a very good resume, an cover letter attached, and when i see the manager i greet him, and explain to him im looking for a job, can you consider me, im ideal, i have had past work , experience blah blah, but no1 seems to be calling me for resumes, and also i dress nicely to when i go, and i check help wanted web sites all the time! i am also 15 How much work experience can one have at 15? And could you go work where you got that experience? Many places don't hire until you're 16, even 18. And if I were a manager at McDonalds or somewhere, and you walked in with a suit and tie, I'd probably think you were way overdressed, and went on to hire the kid who showed up in a nice polo and a decent pair of jeans. I think one of the reason why no ones if offering you a position might be because you're too young. Especially in fast food business, you have to be at least 18+ older to work but again, it depends on the state you live in. I live in NYC and 18 is the age requirement. Easiest way for you to get a job is if you/any one you know of knows someone else who's hiring, you can get that job easily. otherwise, look for jobs in areas such as movie theater, shops etc. but I wouldn't recommend fast food business. good luck ! Personal experience ! First of all you're not going to get a job at a full service chain place (ie. Applebees, Chilli's, Olive Garden) because of corprate rules. You're best bet is to go to a family owned place and talk to the owner. An owner can take a gamble on someone who is 15 as a dishwasher or busser. I know McDonald's will hire 15 year olds but like I said, go to a smaller family owned joint and talk to the owner. I've worked in Food Service Since I was 15. |
