What job should i get? what pays more? |
hi im 15 years old and i really wnat a part time job! i was wondering what good jobs are there?? and which one pays more?? i was thinking of applebees but im open to other options. what do u think? No, they don't check your grades. I'm with the person who mentioned the fact that you don't have any skills. (not yet) but you will soon if you choose the right job. You can acquire skills AND get paid. I say you should try to get a job where you will learn skills that will be valuable to you later. These skills will help you get higher paying jobs later in your life. Things that will help you later are: Cashiering experience/money handling Customer Service (problem solving, trouble shooting) Data Entry Computer Skills (Microsoft word, excel, powerpoint access) If at all possible you should try to get into some kind of internship or co-op program that will hire high school students and expose them to a particular profession. Not all internships are unpaid. I'm not sure where you are located but you should check out this link to get an idea of what kind of great job opportunities that are available to high school students outside of food service. http://www.rit.edu/~gtfsbi/symp/highscho... or go to www.indeed.com Just for a regular area job search Good luck with your job search. Any job you get at your age is not going to pay you the big bucks. You have no skillz. Plus any job where you going to be waiting on people SUCKS. Plus they don't have to pay you the state or federal minimum wage since you'll be collecting tips as well. Get ready when you have real a**hole customers and you gotta keep a smile on your face and they throw a penny on your table as a tip because they just drunk and dumb and you hoping they crash into a lamp post or something. pay is not the issue for you. They will all be at or near min wage. try to find something you are really interested in. It may not work out, but if it does it will go a long way to helping with long term career goals. If you like dealing with people try not to get an overnight supermarket stocker job - no people around. If u like animals, don't look in a auto parts shop. get the drift. - at 15 it is hard to be choosy, but you might luck out. it depends on the size of your town. my home town alot of my classmates worked at the grocery stores and did pretty good. shane was right about the restaraunt business, if your not able to take the b.s. from people dont even apply at one. there's also gas stations that put kids on to stock coolers and various other jobs around the store. |
