hi..I'AM 18 years old. . I applied for this job at Pollo Feliz. Its a Mexican fast food restaruant. I don't know if you heard of it but anyway...i got the job and he put me on casher..the manager and after 4 days , he's like you have to work in the front cleaning..mopping..giviving orders..cleaning tables..i was like ok..but why.and he's like becasue the made a new rule that only girls can be cashiers..i was like ok..and then i was ilke i have to think about if i wanna work here or not becasue i'am nto good at cleaning.and he's like no problem..just come tomrow and tell me...so i come tomrow the next day and i tell the manager.ok i wwant the cleaning job and he's likesoryy its taken..i gave it o this one guy...the only job i can give u is a cutting chicken job..so then i'am like ok i'am out..then i came get my check after 2 days and i see 3 guys working in the front cleaning thing job. And i thought he said he gave it to one GUY? where did 3 guys come from? i know my story is weird Sounds like a crappy job anyways. Your better off somewhere else. maybe for some reason or another he didn't really care for you. You can't sue him if you are in an "at-will" state - meaning they can fire you at will for any or no reason at all. Most states are at-will states. Lesson - the early bird catches the worm. You should have jumped on the janitorial job if you really wanted it. It's called "At will employment" get used to it. It means that a employer if there is no written contract can hire or fire anyone for any reason or no reason at all. You as the employee have the same right, to quit for any reason or no reason at all. In the work force for over 39-years. I'd move on. There are lots of other fast food restaurants out there. It's not worth going to court, and unless there was a signed agreement between you saying you'd have your pick of the job then you have no case. Just apply somewhere else. I think everyone answered you well already, but I have two points to make. There was absolutely no reason for you to state that it was a spanish restaurant, as that had nothing to do with your problem. You border on discrimination or hate when you use descriptive things like that. (and, no I am not hispanic, just careful) Also, stop using "like" every 3 or 4 words. Just state your case and it will be shorter. One suggestion to answer you, is this a franchise restaurant, like McDonald's ? If so, you might contact the main office and ask if it is true that males are not allowed to be cashiers in their restaurants, or if this is decided by each location. do what ever u think is right. |
