Quit current job? |
Do I need to sign a resignation paper to quit my job? What happen if I don't want to sign the paper, and I just call and tell the supervisor that I'm quit? I work in this company abour 1 1/2 years. you just tell them you are quitting on the phone exactly do you like this job you should think about IT!!!! You have to tell them you quit. By phone is enough to have it done. You can have your effects sent to you. You may want to pick up any stuff you have there? Usualy people give 2 weeks notice but That depends on the situation. Good luck give two weeks notice and write a nice letter of resignation. It depends on the job. Technically, you don't have to do anything except stop showing up for work. The downside is that you probably won't want to ever list that job on a resume or application. Your employer probably won't be willing to give you much of a recommendation. It's good etiquette to give at least 2 weeks notice so they have some chance to hire a replacement. They probably feel that signing a resignation paper provides them with some protection so you can't come back and say they terminated you for some illegal reason (discrimination, etc). If you're truly leaving voluntarily, there isn't much problem with signing the paper. If you're leaving because of sexual harrassment or some other problem that made working conditions unbearable, signing the paper would be a bad idea - you'd be making it much harder to take legal action against them. If it's a civil service job, it really is considerate to sign the resignation paper work just so they have proof that you've really quit your job. With some civil service jobs, your position might have to be held open for up to 6 months if you haven't officially resigned. That's a serious imposition to put on the employer you're leaving. |
