Good reason to change jobs?

I am a college student who moved to this town one year ago. I tried to find a job for about a month before giving up and transferring with my fast food job. I don't mind it for the most part. I like most of my co-workers, usually get the hours I request, and I've been there so long that the work is pretty mindless. The one major issue is that back in October I was really vulnerable, and lost my virginity to a co-worker. He led me on for a long time, and we had a sort of fling/relationship up until a few weeks ago. He told me he didn't want a girlfriend right now, but he already has a new one. It's really hard to work w/ him around, and has been for awhile. He's quitting in about six months once he graduates, but I don't want to wait that long. Meanwhile, I think I have a good chance of being hired at a grocery store (similar position), where everyone seems really nice. Do I have a good enough reason to quit? Or will I regret it later?

You have every reason to quit. You obviously are not comfortable working around him now, and 6 months is a long time to wait. Do a little more research into the grocery store job, make sure it's what you want and that the pay, etc. is comparable. Put in a application and go for it. I think you will be alot happier in a new position where you don't have to be around him.
You should never quit one job before having a new job.
Ask yourself the questions you would ask if you did not have the relationship. Those will be your best answers.

And, detach yourself from whatever happened yesterday!
Ask yourself Where do you want to go with your life? Will the new job lead on to something or is it just a fill in?
will your current job lead on to something better? Make your decision based on looking forward not back
Don't know what everyone else will say, but I can relate.
Don't wait on him for any reason. If he already has another girlfriend, he has just used you. I am sorry to hear that. It really does a number on a young lady's emotions.

As difficult as it may seem, you may have to change employers, at least for now. Don't burn any bridges with your current employer. Perhaps tell them it was a difficult decision for you to make, to change jobs. (but that you are not interested in being promoted, as you have other personal interests as to the kind of career you are seeking.. )

It's gotta be a double-whammy for you, because actually, you broke the golden rule of not dating co-workers. Many companies try to avoid such as this, as for the reason you are such a good example.

I hope you have great friends. Ones who will encourage you to move on. Don't consider yourself as "used merchandise." Just know that there are thousands of women who have already gone through similar circumstances.

It's great you are willing to move forward with your life. I pray you find what you need. God bless you. And be easy on yourself, okay?
good reason, your cat died.
it's just a fast food job, if you are in college it's not like you want to make that your life. keep pursuing the grocery store job, and if/when you get it, quit your fast food job. you don't need to give your current employer a reason why you are quitting, just that you found a new job.
