Job help please?

I keep applying for jobs. 13 to be exact. Restraunts, stores, and babysitting. No one is hiring me! What is wrong. I'm old enough to drive there to the job. How can I convenice them?

I know exactly how you feel. I've been through the EXACT same phase. Truth is, it might not be your problem. Many companies/stores get HUNDREDS of resumes and sometimes, if you don't hand your resume to the manager in person, your resume may have gotten lost. Don't ever be afraid to call the place where you applied after 7-10 days you dropped off your resume just to check up on it. 7-10 days is usually how long it takes for managers to go through all resumes. Ask for the store manager and say "Hi there. My name is______ and i dropped off my resume with _______ about a week ago. I was wondering what the status of my application is?" Be kind and don't sound offended if they didn't receive it or they turn you down. Thank them for their time and move on. Also, could it be something with your resume? Have it edited by a friend and make sure you focus on your strong points and skills that you could use in the area you apply to.

Trust me. Calling up to check on your resume is very important. That's how I get my interviews half the time! Its because they didn't receive my resume and it definitely shows you're interested. You could go to job fairs too. If all else fail, just settle for an easy job like fast food or supermarket jobs. It may not be the best job or your ideal job, but its a start and it definitely gains you experience Source(s): been in your shoes.
Have you followed up with any of them? Or have you just applied and left it at that?
I would suggest going through a temporary service or a local government workforce training office. Sometimes having someone help you with your resume and your interview skills makes a big difference.
I took a free class through a government workforce center on resumes and job interviews. Check with your state's Department of Employment for more resources.
I have also obtained a permanent job through a temp service. Temp services have a lot more than just office and factory jobs. They are great for helping you find a job that fits you.

I agree with Berlin Doll's response.

On the other hand, do you know of anyone who works at a particular business that you are interested in working for - who can provide you with a "an employee referral," especially a reference that you can place on your job application or resume. Often the mere mention of a current employee's name as a "job referral" is sufficient enough to get you the job - even without an initial interview.

Good luck!
Noting is wrong with you. It's a really tough economy right now, and there are a lot less jobs then there are people wanting to work. When I was laid off, I started doing this.

If you'd like to see site descriptions, proof that they pay, and a lot more information, please see my profile.

I have been averaging over $2,000 a month on line for the last 4 months. All of these sites are free to join.

I would also recommend never paying an upfront fee. If a site/company was really making that much money, they would not need to charge you.

Hope this helps, and have a great day.
