At the current job it is 36,000, the pay scale is semi-monthly, the new offered job is 37,188,payscale bi-week |
It seems that if I were to take the offer I would be making less money. I did the paycheck calculator and the gross is less for the new job. The benefits are out of this world but the point of seeking new employment is a higher salary. take new job You get two more paychecks when the time frame is bi-weekly. You get 24 paychecks when semi-monthly, 26 paychecks when bi-weekly. The pay is higher at the new job, but money should not be the only factor in switching jobs. Benefits, vacation, medical, flex-time, etc. all play a factor, as well as working environment. I made a job switch once for money alone, and it was horrible! Very bad decision, since money was the only thing I took into account. The pay at the new job is $1,188 more than the old job. Because the new job is every two weeks (26 a year), instead of 2 a month (24 a year), the individual checks will be less but you get more checks a year. Not only is the new job starting out better, but will you have more opportunities to advance? You have to remember that you will have one more pay cheque if you are working by weekly. As an accountant I would say that you would be paid more in the long run of the year but not by much. I think you forgot the extra pay cheque The pay scale at the new job is more, but the money is distributed differently. You'll make about $3,000 a month ($36,000/12) at the current job, but you'll make about $3,100 a month ($37,188/12) at the new job. So congrats, you've got a raise of about $100/month! :) How is 37188 less than 36000? Think about it... |
