Can an employer in Colorado demand reimbursement for an unpaid check from a waitress?

Say somebody walked out on their bill and the waiter was left with an 'open ticket'. Is it legal for the manager to force the waiter to compensate from his or her own pocket the amount of that bill?

Yes, it is legal.
You need to check with the Colorado labor board on that. It should not be legal, what are you supposed to do if they walk out? Tackle them?
All of the places that I've worked would not make you pay. But if it happens too often you might lose your job.
yeah, man. i waitressed in colorado for a short time and ive waitressed in texas. colorado i had to pay for a walk out and in texas they tried to make me. i refused. they wrote me up, but i still had my money! suckers!
