I feel bad I'm 28 and never really had a job other than short term temp jobs? |
I feel so bad sometimes because of it, I put applications in places like tops, wegmans, small stores @ the mall and never get called. everyone else around you gets jobs no problem, even have two sometimes & I can't get one, I'm going to be forced to go to school and take up something, I get so pissed and depressed when I go & they turn me down because of no experience. even some temp places told me I haven't got enough experience to be one of their clients. ADVICE FROM ANYONE PLEASE!!! It is difficult - employers want someone who has some stability. So .. the question you have to answer BEFORE they ask is WHY have you only been temping? Why only short term gigs? If you can answer those in your cover letter, it may help. I would suggest if you do have the opportunity to go back to school that you take it. It does make you more employable. It also sounds like you aren't sure what you want to do? I would suggest you see if your local Community College offers "Assessment tests" (Meyers-Briggs is the big name in this field.) These help you figure out how what you like can lead you to a career. Don't be discouraged! You can get it all together and get on course! (I would also suggest sticking with one temp agency if you can - that shows a certain type of longevity if you have been with them and they think well enough of you to send you out to different sites!) Best of luck!!! Source(s): Years in HR & Staffing. It sounds like you need to go back to school. I gaurentee you'll get a job with way better pay when you do, and it will be something that you liked, because you have a degree in whatever it is. it generally happens.. you havn't mentione what you have done.. and ur experties.. see its better to master in one than to go for all. i think you are smart enough to grab that Train your fingers and big muscles for a job you might enjoy. Train your mind as well. Keep a good attitude, something might happen your way. go back to school. apply for financial aid (fafsa.com) to help with expenses until you finish. get a job on campus (many pay more than minimum wage and will work with your everchanging school sched). plus you can get good letters of rec out of it. Maybe your feelings are showing through your expressions and body language when you interview. You feel down and out; depressed at times and when you go into an interview you need to be confident, poised, well dressed, and answer their questions honestly and with speed. You have to be on your toes and look how you feel. Do something you feel good about the day before your interview or your meeting with a temp agent. Keep positive and ALWAYS keep trying. Land yourself a decent job and go back to school part time. I don't suggest going back to school if you have no idea what you want to do with your life...trust me, it's a waste of time and money. Figure out what you're good at and what makes you happy...then run with it. Also, you can always try being a part-time or full-time representative for a well-known company. Examples Are: Tupperware rep, Lia Sophia Jewelry rep, Anna Williams purse party rep, Party Lite (candle) rep, there are a million of them out there and they all give you GREAT opportunities to make amazing money. You just have to have a self-driven attitude and a drive to succeed. |
