I have an interview for a food service worker position. What should i put on? See details? |
I had 2 re-schedule for this week cos i put on jeans....yikes. I'm kinda new to the area and i put on jeans to my first interview at a store and i had no problems. It's in a hospital in Washington DC..pls help..what can i put on?? I hate anything that is not jeans. + how do i make a good impression to overshadow the jeans incident. Thanks. Well just nice clean clothes---if you want the job--show up WELL GROOMED---slacks and a nice shirt and CLEAN shoes. Food service is a seriously CLEAN business--and if you look dirty or just dress like a slob--you will be judged as how they see you--and you will ot be working around food--dirty and sloppy. Dressing nice says you respect yourself--employers like that!! They figure you will have respect for the business and do a good job--pride makes for good teamwork. The company is a team--so look and act like a team player. Sit up straight--keep your feet on the floor--speak when spoken to--LIKE AN EDUCATED PERSON. It is YES or NO--not yeah or nah.....and don't say "like this is this" or" like this is that..." Good luck on the interview--remember to be the best at any job you get----it feels good to do a good job and maybe use the experience to get a better job. When in doubt--always go to the extreme--count on GOOD clothes being the accepted norm . When you finally get the job--then go with the dress code and what it allows. if jeans is the only criteria for working at a place--you'll never get anywhere---time to grow up. clothes wear a nice dress suit! first impressions are everything a nice plain jacket & skirt. with an apron??? The following are accepted standards in the job market. Follow them if you want to make a positive first impression. These guidelines will of course vary from country to country and the type of job you are applying for. The best way to find out how you should dress up for an interview is to dress a little bit higher than the employees you would be working with. Women: 路 Don't wear your skirts too short or too tight, heels to high, or blouses too low and too sheer. 路 Skip the loud nail colors and long nails. Keep your makeup subtle. 路 Carry an extra pair of stockings just in case and wear them, even in the summer. 路 Don't wear too much jewelry; keep it simple. Don't wear lots of earrings. 路 Conservative blouse and suit, with skirt not too short, sensible heels, subtle make up and jewelry. Fill only one hole with earrings if you have many. Never wear large hoop earrings. Men 路 Don't wear an earring. 路 Keep your nails clean and trimmed and remember to shave. 路 Wear knee length socks that match your pants to avoid "the sock gap." 路 A dark suit, white shirt, tie and dark oxford shoes. (This will vary from country to country and the type of job being applied for). Everyone 路 If you think you need a haircut, get one. 路 Don't splash on too much perfume or aftershave. Many people are allergic to scents. 路 Don't wear a nose ring. 路 Take a shower that morning and wear a deodorant. 路 Polish your shoes and press your clothes the night before. 路 Absolutely don't chew gum or smoke. 路 If you suffer from sweaty palms, keep a handkerchief with a little baby powder or cornstarch in it. Before your interview, go into the restroom and dry your hands with it. 路 Go to the interview alone. Don't bring a friend or relative. 路 Get a good night's sleep the night before. Peace and every blessing! get you a nice pair of khaki pants and a nice shirt, button up the front with long sleeves, and have the sleeves buttoned.. and the shirt tucked in.. have the hair combed, nice shoes, not ratty tennis shoes.. if you have nice Nike's or something like that you might get by with those, just not something with holes in them. wear socks !! If you are male, shave.. and do not put on a bunch of cologne.. never know when a boss may be allergic.. sit straight in the chair, and always make eye contact, and always say yes and no, and not yeah.. or shake your head.. shake the persons hand and introduce yourself when you go in.. good luck !! Male or female U should wear a good business suit to any job interview. Go easy on the make-up & any scent U wear (including after shave guys). Keep jewelery low key. Also low heels. not 6" heels. Once U have the job a lot of places have casual dress. In a hospital U might wear some kind of uniform. Good Luck. |
