Job satisfaction or job money which is better and why? |
Job satisfaction or job money which is better and why? Do what you love and the money will follow. Chase money and you will always be running. a little of both. it would be great to work somewhere just cuz I like the job and it doesnt matter if or when they pay me.....but the reality is I work for money. I volunteer to fill my other needs. Job satisfaction by far. I have been on both sides of the ball. I used to work on Wall St. had a good salary, stock options, profit sharing etc.. and yet I was more miserable than I ever have been in my entire life. Most people I know who make a lot of money are some of the most miserable people in the world. It is more important to be able to survive financially and yet love getting up in the morning and going to work. Job satisfaction is better. Money doesn't buy happiness and if you're unhappy with your job for the sake of money, you'll soon learn this. Do you want to spend all your working hours unhappy for the sake of a few dollars more? Think long term. Both are very important, and a lot depends on your financial situation. If you need the money, pay is more important, or vice versa. If you have to take a job you don`t like, but pays good, take it and keep looking for one you like better. One suggestion, I would rather have a job that pays a LITTLE less well, if I enjoy what I`m doing, Again, this depends on how bad you need the money. A wise man once said,"Find a job you love doing, and you`ll never work a day in your life." I would have to say that a great paying job is more important simply for the fact that the vast majority of your "satisfaction" comes from your life outside the job. Obviously it would be wonderful if you could have both. Very few of us are afforded that option. If you have a satisfying job but are constantly broke, the 16 hours a day you aren't at work can be pretty miserable. Somehow that doesn't seem to be a fair trade-off. However, if you have a financially successful job, you can make the other 16 hours a day as fulfilling and wonderful as you choose without having to worry about where the money is coming from. I choose to work for myself. That way, I really have the best of both worlds. I pay me exactly what I think I'm worth. And I have the time freedom to enjoy the money I get from me. It really doesn't get much better than that. For what it's worth....... Todd toddtrucker@yahoo.com SuccessPro Lifestyle Coaching |
