Any websites for aspiring chefs? |
Does anyone know of any websites for aspiring chefs? I don't mean websites with just recipes by the way. I mean websites with tips and guides on how one could start out in this career. Also any great books would be fantastic as well! Thanks in advance. Best career advice.... Get a job in a restaurant. It's the only way to really find out if it's the job for you. Read "Kitchen Confidential" by Bourdin. Not only is it a great read, it is very real. Not every kitchen is "Hell's Kitchen" but a lot of them are pretty close and all the books and web sites you can visit will do nothing to prepare you for the heat, the long hours and the fact you will miss every family outing and holiday event (a real plus if you don't like them much). After 2 years, if you LOVE it, go to school. You will learn so much more with the basics under your belt and you won't be wasting time and money on something that isn't right for you. Good luck!!! If it's right for you it can be the best job in the world. Source(s): Many happy years in the back of the house it all depends on what type of chef you're trying to aspire to be. personal chefs are in high demand right now. www.uspca.com www.decentdinners.com this one is not full functional yet |
