Help me quit my job...!? |
I don't like my job any more and I want to quit but I'm a bit embarrased to quit because I've only been working there for 5 weeks and berly finish training. But i dislike every mintue of it how can I quit with out sounding rude Be honest and up front. Ask your boss if you could speak with him. Then you could say something like..... (their name), first I would like to thank you for hiring me and giving me this opportunity, but I really do not want to waste anymore of your time or the company's time.....I just don't think this job is right for me. I am sorry to do this so soon after being hired, but I thought it would best to say something now, instead of waiting until after training. By saying something like this, you will be showing your boss your concerns about the company, not just about you. He should appreciate your honesty and I think he will be glad you did something about it now, rather than after training. At this point the two of you can talk about if you need to give any notice before leaving, but a lot of times when the employee is in training still, they will not do the two weeks notice. That way they can hire another person. (It is not like you would be able to train the new person, because you are still in training yourself.) In a delicate situation, like this, by showing the other person you are putting their interest in the situation first, makes you come across as a mature, thoughtful, and intelligent person. Now, your boss might be a little ticked at first, but after the initial "hit" has passed, he will be glad you came forth and spoke with him. No boss wants to train someone who really doesn't feel good at the job, because all that is is postponing the inevitable of the employee leaving or getting fired. You never want to "burn your bridges" if at all possible, when you leave a company, no matter how long you are employed there, and no matter why you are leaving. Best of Luck to You! Practice, don't memorize, what you want to say. Keep repeating it out loud as you practice. By doing this, it will help you feel more relaxed when you are actually saying it. Then the morning of the day you are going to speak with your boss, say a prayer asking God to calm your nerves, to help you with the words, and to be with you during the meeting....Then, let go and let God help you! You will be fine! Take Care! Source(s): Years of experience Say that you are having family problems and feel it would be best for you to not work now. I don't know. "This job is just not what I expected, and I need to put in my two week notice. I am truelly sorry it did not work out." Simple, truthfull, and done. The state you live in actually dictates how you must quit. Some states are considered to be "at will" and you can quit when you want without cause, the flipside being you can be fired just as easily. Other states recognize an implied agreement of employment in which you must provide prior notice before quitting and must be given proper cause before being fired. As to how to quit without sounding rude, simply inform them that you are not happy with your current employment and plan to seek other alternatives. Whatever you do, don't lie. If you lie and get caught it can follow you around for years. The least rude solution is to be honest. Tell the truth. Say you made a mistake. The job is not working out for you. Peace and blessings! Quit now. Tell your manager the truth and it will be OK. |
