Is this a good pay rate or not? |
I was promoted to shift manager for a restaurant that I have worked at for 2 years. I currently make 7.80 and I do EVERYTHING in the store. With the promotion I will make 10.00 plus bonuses of .10 per hour worked or if we become a higher level store (which is possible), I will get .25cents per hour. Raises will be about .25 cents every six moths. I will get 15.00 dollars worth of food per shift worked. Is this good or not? This is a great job for you while you are in school. As you are in school learning how to deal with people, what better way is there than food service to come in contact with other employees from all walks of life. Another special bonus is all the illegals you will work with now so you can spot them later. Get out while you can!!!! There is no money to be made in the food industry, i know from experience i worked for Piccadilly for 5yrs and they shut down a lot of their stores and i was on unemployment for a while, i invested my time into that company and for what?!! Get into a field where there is promise go to school get a degree if not get into a line of business that is steady. A lot depends on the area where you live, cost of living etc.. If at all possible, you should try going to college part time while working. You could probably get some aid for college too. Of course it is, it's more than you were making and it carries a better title. Once you have that experience under your belt you can ask for further increases based on your value to the company. Another thing you can do is call other similar restaurants and ask them if they are looking for a shift manager to give you a call and if the price is right and your boss won't meet the competition you can make the move, soon you'll be running your own store in one of the franchises. |
