What kind of black work shoes should i get if am going to work in a fast food restaurant? |
I am 15 so i got my first job at a fast food restaurant what kind of black shoes should i get................send me a link to the picture You'll need slip-proof shoes. The kind that resist slipping on wet and greasy floors. I'd also get something with a smooth easy-to-wipe surface. You're going to drop all sorts of stuff on your shoes, so it makes cleaning them up all the easier. Also, get a non-marking/no-scuff sole. Unless you want one of your duties at work to include cleaning your scuff marks off the floor. No matter what shoe you get, if you're not used to standing for many hours at a time your feet WILL hurt. After a week or two you'll get used to it and they'll stop hurting. A lot of restaurants use/sell shoes from this company: Shoes for Crews http://www.shoesforcrews.com/ . Something with a non-slip sole. I think Reebok calls them service shoes. Yeah you can't just go buy any cute pair of black shoes. They have to be slip resistant, which basically means they only come in a few different "designs." Don't buy anything until you confirm this with whoever hired you. I'm sure if it's a fast food place, you will need slip resistant shoes. I would recommend Dr. Martens Original boots. They're a bit pricey (about $100, but with free shipping at Zappos.com). But, they're super comfortable for standing all the time, they have a non-slip sole, and they are even stylish to wear off the job. Also, some places require you to wear some kind of leather shoe, anyway. This is because hot grease falling onto a tennis shoe will seep right into the shoe and make a burn on your foot even worse. Cute....No way, but you are going to look really cute if you wear something that isn't made for the job and you fall on your butt in all that crap that ends up on the kitchen floor. Or better yet, you slip and stick your hand in the deep fryer (my first job at sixteen was fast food, and that happened to a guy I worked with.....watching someones skin literally falling off because of a severe burn is not pretty). If you don't want to spend the cash on shoes for crews (a lot of places will take it in payments out of your check), payless sells a no slip black shoe....they aren't great looking, but I had the white ones for nursing clinicals and they are comfortable when you are going to be standing for a long time. Your shoes usually get nasty at work, so you will be replacing them every couple of months anyway. Get some black shoes that are comfortable and it would help a great deal if you got some slip on shoes instead of those with laces. Why? Because you don't have to worry about your shoe coming untied and tripping and falling and have everyone laughing at you. It's not worth it. Go to Target. I'm sure they got some at a reasonable price. That's where i got mine. |
