What is the best way to recover for being late for an interview? |
I was 10 minutes late. I didn't want to give a list of excuses but now I think I blew my chances for the job. I know it is over and done with now but what should I have said or done??? I think you did the right thing by not giving excuses. In a situation like that it's really just best to sincerely apologize and then give a killer interview and prove to them that you deserve to be there. tell them you had to meet with your paroll officer Just be honest and apologize sincerely once. Don't spend the whole time maing excuses, feeling guilty and apologizing. Just do it once and move on. And don't be late the next time. maybe apologize profusely and really explain why you were late. i think if you show the interviewer that you are sincerely sorry it would still mean you had a chance.. If they really need a body, they may hire you anyway. I used to be a restaurant manager about 15 years ago and dealt with that problem all the time. Deep down inside, I knew I couldn't always depend on people given the poor wages we paid our employees. Flat Tire on a car or if you don't have a car say you helped a young mother with a child fix a flat tire works every time make sure you get a little dirty before you go in : ) Well for a job interview, if you know you are going to be late, you have to call them and say so. If you don't then you need to apologize and accept full responsibility for being late. Also after an interview, it's always good style to send a thank you note to the interviewer. |
