How to quit your job without offending / upsetting your boss? Never burn a bridge. Try not to leave him in a bad position. Give reasonable notice and be available for questions after you leave. Since you are leaving anyway (of course, find a new job first or got something better to do before you quit, otherwise, the boss will feel bad). Don't worry too much as long you leave on good term. Nothing upsets a boss more than an employee does not give the standard 2 weeks notice. Give even more notice if you can. Just politely and professionally give notice that you are leaving the position effective on such and such day. You do not necessarily have to give a reason why you are leaving, but if you can give a good reason like a better paying job, etc., do it. Never blame your current position such as low pay, bad hours, etc. - that's burning bridges behind you - even if it's the truth. Give your two weeks notice resignation letter. Thanks your boss for the opportunity, etc. If you are leaving due to any problems regarding your boss or the company, settle things first.
