What is meant by a "homemade, creative resume"? |
Hells Kictchen, a bar/restauraunt just opened up here in my town. The ad actually uses the word "damn" a couple of times. Then the ad proceeds to tell applicants to turn in a resume that is homemade and creative as we wish. So would that mean I could handwrite it (neatly and well organized)? I think that if its already unconventional, that it would be fine. I feel a lot can be expressed in handwriting, and they did say homemade... please help! :) Thank you in advance all. They are looking for people that think "outside the box" so you should definitely try something a different to get their attention. How about a video resume, or as it is a restaurant, how about instead of a tradition resume format, you try a Menu format? Appetizers - education Entrees - your work experience Desserts - skills and talents Special of the day - you! I still would recommend NOT handwriting it, but use the computer creatively (like a handwritten font instead of helvetica, for example) More like a cake with your resume written on it in icing. 鈾?You definetly should keep the traditional resume [[just to have a good copy]]. But I agree with the person who says cake... Have the cake made and a resume put on the cake. They can do the digital picture and actually put the resume on the cake. Or you could do a "big" cookie and have your resume on that with some smaller cookies to highlight things. :-) You could also take paper plates and reproduce your resumes on their and make a whole cute project out of it! :-) Good Luck! i think handwriting would be fine. they're likely looking for unique individuals who will be okay with working in what they think will be a unique environment. they seem to be begging for creativity really- so give it to them! if i were you and this place was already open for business you should go eat there one- maybe when go to turn in your resume. when you interact with the staff you'll get a sense for what you're getting into- Handwritten would work. It sounds like it is a laid back place where formality is concerned. They are more interested in how you are on the job. I really like the Cake idea, in fact that was what I was gonna say when I clicked on the question. Do 2 things.. 1. traditional resume. 2. If it is a bar/restauraunt, then cake might not be the idea. Maybe make a dish that they deal with, similar to their signature dish, firey, spicy, hell on earth type of thing.. stay with their theme, if it is something that you can put a resume on then go for it, maybe use food grade laquer and plaster it to the bottom of the dish, facing into the food. Remind them that this was homemade, it is my resume, and hopefully it is creative enough for them.. otherwise, here is a more readable copy of the traditional resume. |
