What to expect from joining Chili's? |
At the advice of some people here, I applied at Chili's to find a part time serving job instead of a full time serving job. My orientation starts at 8 pm this Thursday and I was wondering what to expect in terms of training and how I will actually serve. I'm currently studying the menu and ingredients right now, but where exactly am I suppose to find black shirts for a cheap price? Also what is in terms of meal discounts, amount of tables you're assigned during a shift, and guest needs such as adding on toppings and etc? When I worked there the hardest part was the food test. They have a lot of acronyms to remember. Once you get past that it's easy. They always gave us shirts to wear, I don't think that you would need to go out and buy them. That may have changed I'm not sure. I was a server at Chili's a year ago. The studying is the sucky part---it is a lot to remember---it helped that my trainer was a friend who kinda let me cheat....all I can say is keep studying...the salads are what is hard to remember. After you pass, it's easy. Do you have other serving experience? It would definitely help. I found my black and red polos at JcPenney for cheap...try also, Kohl's or even Goodwill. The rest---relax, your trainers will show you all you need to know. They won't just throw you on without warning. You will probably start off in a slow section with only like 6 tables to start with. Good luck! Have fun. PS: I always found that at big restaurants like Chili's, I didn't get a lot of tips...if you don't like it there, get a job at a smaller, family-owned restaurant instead---bigger table turn-around. |
