How hard is it for an 18 y/o bartender to find a job??? |
Im about to turn 18 and I wanna take a bartending class. Would there be some prejudice when looking for a job even if I applied at a restraunt like Bennigans or something? Unlike these other ignorant people I know a thing or two about the law. When you turn 18 you can definately bartend because you are not a minor anymore. As far as your question about there being some prejudice, it all depends on where you get this job. Like you said a smaller setting like Bennigans or another resturant would be a good start until you get a little experience. You can't get a job in a bar yet because of your age, but you can do weddings and private parties and that's where you can make a lot of tips. Dude you are like a liability. I doubt anyone will hire an underage bartender. What you might want to do is place and ad for private parties. You will probably have better luck there then in a public atmosphere. So like if you already know the answer then why ask it. Next time you might want to specify what state you live in before making us assume that you live in a state where you certainly can prove to be a liability. Yes you might be able to work in a bar but if someone in the Alcohol and Tobacco agency comes in a smells alcohol on you they are going to assume that you are drinking and therefore might even revoke the alcohol license of the location. Thats why you can be a liability. Keep hope alive! |
