Question for waiters/waitresses??? |
do you have to split your tips with the back wait? My back wait(the guy who runs food and salads) dont do sh*t!!! I have to do it all myself and I'm not the only one who feels this way. Our boss sticks up for him all the time. I can see it if he does the work but most of the time he dont!!! We got into a heated discussion about it Friday night. I think you should tell your boss you didn't get tips on the nights you back wait dont help. That will hopefully show your back wait that he needs to help in order to get paid. Because I am sure you wouldn't mind if he was actually helping you out. Stand up for what you think is right, girl! Well, by "split", do you mean 50%? Because that would be ridiculous. But if you give him 10 or 15%, that's kind of standard. But if he's really not doing his job, like not even trying hard, you need to point it out to your boss every time he is slacking, and get your coworkers to do it too, until your boss will be so sick of hearing it, he'll get someone new, or make you stop tipping him out. I would never work anywhere that didn't treat me right, and I would never work anywhere where I wasn't making enough money. I always found out, in advance, how the restaurant operates before working there. I was a waitress back in the 70's. Waitress jobs were plentiful so if one place didn't meet my expectations, I moved on. It does no good to try to change how a restaurant operates. They don't care who doesn't like it. My suggestion for you is to find another job where you don't feel taken advantage of. Also, take some classes so you're not a slave to minimum wage jobs all your life. Nevermind getting into heated discussions. You don't need that stress in your life. You can't change the restaurant's policy. Just take your waitressing skills elsewhere where they'll be appreciated. I just heard Hank Williams' song: "Take This Job And Shove It". . . . sing that on your way out the door. change some of the tips to notes and keep them yourself let him have the small tips and let him f..k off with himself.good luck i would hide most of my tips...get a plastic baggie n go in the ladies room n put away most of ur tips in that baggie n put it in ur bra. you shouldn't have to. They are your tips so maybe look for another job. -my first waitress job we did the food, sides, drinks, and bussed ourselves sometimes when we were busy the guys would help but we werent required to give them anything (we normally did anyway) -at my waitress job now i dunno i havent started yet haha -but 25% seems like alot |
