How much does a waitress/waitor earn with tips at a busy restaurant? |
Let's say he or she works full time (40 hours), and I know they've got to be making decent money in tips, if they are serving several people per hour. I never did work in this field, but was curious to know how much they made with all those tips? my last job - i averaged $800 a week working 30 hours. It depends on the restaurant and the market you work in. Tourist hot spots bring in the cash....small town America = not so much. It depends on the restaurant and the restaurant's clientele. I once worked as a bar waitress and made $200 in tips per night per 7 hour shift. Depends usually percentage of tab. Cheap food or high rollers. One girl was given 10,000 because the man wanted to help her because she was a college student. Depends on whether it's someplace like Ruth Chris Steakhouse, where the average bill for a table of four could be a couple hundred dollars, or a local family restaurant where a typical bill would be much lower. A server who is good will make decent tips - and should, since they earn every cent of it. Hi it would REALLY depend on where you work & how good you are at your work. Remember you can catch more flies with honey than vinager--meaning BE NICE to your customers, be KIND be FRIENDLY!! & Be HELPFUL! & get the orders right, & keep the water glasses full. You'll be fine! SOme places share tips & others let the waitresses keep their respective tips, it would really depend on the place. past experience in a service industry In service work- they do not have to pay minimum wage- so I have worked for as little as 3.01 an hour and had to depend on my tips to make even minimum wage! Other places even though high end dining- still do not have to pay minimum wage but you get a higher tip- Be sure to keep track because oif you don't it will kill you at the end of the year on taxes! |
