What should I wear to apply to a natural foods store? |
I'm not an organic-foods junkie. The organic foods store is the only place I've found in my town so far that hires at my age, so I'm going to try to get a job there. I know it wouldn't be smart to wear tons of makeup or anything... I may just keep a store-brand chapstick in my pocket. What should I do for clothes? I don't want to overdo it and wear a tie-dye t-shirt or anything, because I want to look somewhat professional, obviously. But I want to look like I'm into health foods and that I'm fit for the job. The best rule of thumb, that applies to anyone looking for a job, is to dress the same way you'd dress for the job you are applying for. Unless that job would be wearing jeans or a uniform. More than likely you'd probably wear nice slacks to look casual, but not as casual as jeans would make you look. You are right about the lessor makeup. Wear a light colored lipstick and maybe a hint of cheek color and some mascara but no eye shadow. I think liner would be ok, if it's applied lightly and not heavy, and if you only need it to en- hance your appearance. A wholesome look is what you should go for. Maybe that particular store requires staff to wear protective aprons, as I have seen them wear at stores here. Uusually dark green for some reason. I would wear a solid colored top or blouse and slacks/pants in a neutral color. Beige pants would be good this late in summer or navy. And nothing form fitting of course or showing your navel. LOL. Couldn't you just see some older lady manager giving you the once over dressed in a short top and navel and navel ring (if you had one)? During the last of the interview, I would ask if what you were wearing is acceptible for work, to show interest in the job you'll be required to do. And ask her for wardrobe ideas for working there, if you think you've cinched the job. More than likely you'll be stocking shelves so you may be required to wear jeans, so you should ask if that's the proper attire if you have to do any dirty work. She'll let you know if that's the case for doing part of your job. There's always climbing ladders to stock shelves and opening boxes with a cardboard cutter, and other necessary things that are left for someone other than a manager to do. And let her know that what you don't already know about the health food business, you are ready to learn. And that will impress her. Just be clean and neat, and be responsive to questions, and don't be afraid to ask any. That shows your willingness to learn as well. Good luck! Just wear a polo shirt with khaki pants and a pair of nice shoes, like Doc Martens. Clothes go as cucumber. it aint wat u wear, u got that rosy glow 2 ur cheeks, and w/e, theyll no u in good health, but dont change ur lifestyle, sry sweety, thast just stupid, next thing i no, itll b should i wear the deer or bearskin 2 the staff meetin, i mean, come on! Wear what you would normally wear. Just because it is a natural food store doesn't mean that all involved are hippies. Before you bring your resume in, read up on natural foods and the benefits. If they happen to ask you questions when you drop it off you will be prepared. They might ask why you want to work there. An answer such as, you have been reading a lot about the benefits of natural foods, that you want to learn more and incorporate them into your life more. This way even though you might not know alot about natural foods, they can tell you are interested in learning more about them. Good luck :) Hemp clothes and Birkenstocks. JK, wear what you would to any other similar store, nice clothes that aren't too dressy. Like chinos or other casual pants, or a skirt with flats. |
