Honestly do you report your tips? |
I get mixed answers from other servers about reporting their cash tips. Some say if they don't report their tips, they actually get a monetary amount in a check, but others warn about audits from the IRS. Honestly what would you do? When I waitressed I would claim a portion of my tips. I think it was about 40% of what I actually made. It's been a while though so I don't remember exactly. Source(s): glad to be a former waitress When I used to wait tables, I made sure that my yearly claim was at the percent required by my state. What that meant for me though (and I know that this was risky) was that, for some weeks, if money was tight, I wouldn't claim at all, to get a bigger check. Now, I had to remember to over-claim before the end of the year, to balance it out. What tips lol? Honestly? Honestly. Honesty is the best policy. The tax man will get you if you're not careful. |
