Selling Alchohol? |
I would like to work at Food Lion in SC. But I don't want to have to sell alchohol. I know that you have to be 18 to serve it but do you have to be 18 to sell it? (The reason I'm asking is if I'm not 18, I don't have to sell it and I can still work there.) Most likely yes, you have to be 18 to sell it. In Texas you have to be 18 to sell/serve. And 21 to drink it. Selling and serving is the same thing in their eyes. YOU are responsible for what happens after it leaves the bar/cooler. (If someone buys a drink, or is served a drink from you and they go outside, get in their car, and pull out in front of someone killing them, you can be held responsible.) I don't know about SC, but in TX, look up TABC (Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission). You might also try searching for SC Liquor license... For cashiers in supermarkets? I don't think so. I have seen 16 year olds in TX sell cigarettes and alcohol to people. Generally you have to be at least 18/21 to serve alcohol in a restaurant, but I don't think there is a rule against selling it as a cashier in a supermarket. |
