Do I need to write a resignation letter to quit a part time job at a restaurant? Write it on a cheeseburger wrapper. It will add a personal touch of class. Putting it in writing is always a good idea. That way, there won't be any question that you quit, when your last day is going to be, etc... Only if you plan to use them as a reference, but at least give them a verbal notice (minimum 1 week and 2 if you can ) to give them a chance to find a replacement. The reason I say to give a notice is out of common courtesy , they gave you a job when you needed it and you should give them time to find a replacement so they wont be in a bind. Also let me be the first to say that you never want to burn any bridges in life if possible as you never know when you might need these people again. It is also good for your reputation just in case you do need a reference. Good Luck not really, just tell your boss that your going to quit, he/she will probably give you a form and you fill it out and to leave on good terms should be a two week notice. A resignation letter is always appreciated, even though that job is only part-time. It shows your respect for the restaurant. You need goodwill as you might need the restaurant for future reference. It would be nice, even if it is a part time job at a restaurant. Giving notice gives them time to replace you. Always try to leave a clean path in any job or apartment that you leave. Give two weeks notice on the job and follow through. Don't leave them in the lurch. Then if you need a reference you will have done the right thing and they will be there for you. When leaving any job, part time or full time, don't burn any bridges. You never know when you may need a reference or a job. It takes about 2 minutes to put together a resignation letter, and it show you have class. |
