Thinking about being a bartender. Should I work full-time or part-time for best money? |
I was a waitress and got the best tips on friday and saturday nights. Would it be better to work full time or try to work part time? Where would be a good place to apply? I'm live in a medium sized town. There are a lot of family restraunts, but not a lot of clubs, etc. Do bartenders make $10/hr before tips at restraunts or only at clubs? Waitresses only make $2.15/hr before tips. If anyone has any other tips, I would really appreciate it. Thank you! Bartenders are service personnel and therefore make the same wage as servers. You can make a ton of money in the right location but it's not easy to find and the competition is fierce. If you decide bartending is for you, get the full time job in the family restaurant to learn the trade and then move up to club work. No club is going to give you the money shifts until you've worked your way up. Sometimes the bar staff will be in constant flux, except for the Friday/Saturday night crew who have been there forever. Got to school during the week so you can get a better job. is there a bartending school near you? you coul go there and then meet other students with good connections or ideas on where to work. you'll be able to make some great money, I think wherever you go. After time you'll know more where the good money is. I'd say start part time now just where ever. best of luck! in order to get the best shifts you'll probably have to work full-time including some shifts where you won't make much money. but hey, if you can find a place that will just let you work the big money shifts, good for you, go get 'em! The pay rate depends on where you live. My fiance is a bartended now and instead of making $2.15 per hour, he makes around $5. He makes more money as a full time bartender than a full time server. I've actually heard this from a few bar OWNERS: they believe the best bartenders are ones who work part-time and really enjoy doing it and make the most money because of their attitude. If you work full time you will eventually end up hating the job and get worn out. |
