Fired...can my new job take back offer?

I worked at a job earlier this year for less than a month. I was sick with what I suspect was walking pneumonia (couldn't ever verify it with a doc because I don't have health insurance) so I missed a lot of work. I ended up being terminated due to my absences, but truthfully the job wasn't for me anyway, so it was a blessing in disguise. Since then, I've worked at a job part-time for just over 2 months now. I got an interview for a great full-time job this past week, and was verbally offered the position at the interview. I'm due to start on the 10th, but am worried when I fill out my paperwork my first week at the new job, they will be able to see I was fired if they call my previous employer.

My question is, could they "take back" the job offer (I'd suspect they can), but if so, how likely is it? I am so excited for this new job, I just don't want to jeopardize anything.

If you omitted it from your resume, how on earth are they going to call for a reference? Hello? anyone home?
You SHOULD have been up front and honest with them DURING THE INTERVIEW.... if it comes up now, they COULD say you are not trustworthy and rescind their offer of the job... I'd go in BEFORE the 10th and explain the situation to the "prospective new employer".....he MAY appreciate that you came forward on your own and still allow you to take the job... but if he finds out you didn't tell him during the interview, well who knows what might happen?
Well it sounds like you have a great wxcuse if they do find out. being as sick as you were is a valid reason....

Don't be to concerned...............Best of luck with the new job!!!
Honesty is best. Explain why you were out. Let them know you really want the new job. Be on time and try not to be absent in the first few months . Good Luck.
Well Bumblebee if ya didn't LIE about what happened to your first job on the resume or application I wouldn't worry, but if ya did ya better come straight with thew interviewer REAL QUICK!!!!
Most Co.s have an 18 mo. clause that says "If you lied on your app. or resume YOU CAN BE FIRED!!!!!
Man, do people like to lecture. Leaving stuff off your resume is NOT lying. Especially in the job world. In the job world, you "dress" your resume to show potential employers what you can offer them.

Basically, if you didn't mention a job on your resume, how are they going to find out about it? You should be in the clear, afterall, they only call people who you refer them too.

Third, it is illegal for any job to say you were "fired." They are only allowed to say what period you worked there for. If they say anything bad and you don't get the job, you have a case against them and could take them for quite a bit. Companies know this and don't want to give anyone a case, thus they verify employment dates and that's basically all they can say...except, of course, volunteering the good stuff.

Lastly, if they do find out, they will ask you about it and give you a chance to explain. You simply tell them what you wrote here and they'll be understanding. Obviously, they like you and want to find a reason to hire you...so don't sweat it. You didn't do anything wrong.

Hope this helps.
