How do you get work experience in IT without ever having a job? |
I be looking at alot of the IT jobs on Careerbuilder and Monster, and they require you to have like 3 or 4 years of work experience (not just experience, but "work" experience). If you meet all of the other requirements like you have your degree and your certificates and your knowledge, but you have no previous work experience in that related field. How you can get work experience when just about all of the jobs require you to have "previous" work experience? As an employer, I hire people who have passion and talent for the job, which beats experience any day. I can tell based on their responses what they love to do. If you volunteer that counts as experience. In software development, volunteering in open-source projects shows not only your talent, but your passion. In hardware, you can start a business fixing and upgrading computer for elderly people. Be creative. And good luck! Get a job on a helpdesk and work your way in from there. Most helpdesks dont need a lot of experience so you can easily get a job without it. And from there you can work your way into anything, programming, servers, security etc...
