Working with KBR in Iraq? |
I am a prior service Army cook and would like to apply for a food service position with KBR or an administartive position since I have a degree in Business administration. How much is the pay, how's the living and working conditions for civilians and do u get to pick what camp in Iraq you get to go? How do I get my foot in the door with these guys...i know there are plenty of people trying for a few positions. And i doubt applying online is the answer. anyone have any real suggestions? Applying online was how I got my job here. Others said that KBR held job fairs and recruited in the Houston area. Latest rumor is that many jobs will be filled with FN's (Foreign Nat'ls) who receive less base pay than US expats. You don't get to choose where you go, living conditions depend on where you go, working conditions are 12 hrs 7 days a week and usually inside a/c buildings, because it is 120-130F in the summer. Most sites have wet hooches and are comfortable, however, some have communal tents with ab units....probably where the openings will be. Pay will depend on your postion...anywhere from $80k to $150k yearly...and that is if you stay a year without any time off....that cuts into the big money when you vacation....however...for sanity reasons...you need to. Knowing someone helps....being from Texas helps...good luck. no i highly doubt ud get 2 pick ur camp that u stay at in iraq my cousin didnt when he did his tour in iraq although he might be going back for another tour. applying online is really not the answer and i guess it all depends on where ur from but also if u wanted to cook as a civilian it wouldnt count if u were trained in the military as a civilian and also did u get business degree out or in the military if its in the military tht wouldnt count either as a civilian !!! |
