If I take a post office test in Mansfield, Oh.? |
They have the position for testing available in Mansfield, Oh. But I want to work around the Toledo, Oh area. Can I take the test in Mansfield and just wait and see if something opens up around Toledo, or would I have to work in Mansfield? If you pass the test and get called for the interview you have a choice of the area that you want to go to as long as where you took the test covers that area. For example when I took the test I took it in Newark, NJ. This district covered northern NJ. It depends on the district that you take the test in. My advice is to find out if the town you want is in the same district that the test is being given. You can ask someone at the post office if they can tell you if it is.. If you pass the test you may be hired for Mansfield. (Not being from Ohio I do not know if Mansfield is close to Toledo) You can ask for a transfer to Toledo after 18 months. It is a really great idea to not have any accidents or unscheduled absences during this time period. The installation head in Toledo wants to know that you are dependable. Or as answered above if Mansfield and Toledo are in different districts (unlikely) you can ask for you grade to be transfered to the Toledo district. If you take the test in one district that is where you will listed. No other district will be able to hire you unless you test in their district. However, it is my understanding that once you take the test in one district you can ask that your scores be transferred to another district. So, if Mansfield is in different district than Toledo, you could take the test in Mansfield and have them transferred to Toledo. Or you can get a job in Mansfield, work 18 months there and TRY to transfer to Toledo. There would have to be a job opening and they have to be willing to accept you there. For example, if you have a bad attendance rating you may not be able to transfer. Good luck |
