What are the fees to start a non profit in Oregon?

Do you need to have a board of directors?

Starting a non-profit is difficult. You must first obtain non-profit status from the IRS before anything can be done at the state level. It is a lengthy process that will take several months. You need to speak with a laywer and also contact the Small Business Adminstration to help walk you through the process. I can also tell you a business plan is a requirement to obtain non-profit status. At minimum about 25-35 pages in length. Again, the small business adminstration can help you write the plan if you do not have prior experience.
