Is it right in a non-profit organization to have lunches paid through the non-profit organization? |
Is it right in a non-profit organization to have lunches paid through the non-profit organization? I can't tell from your question if you mean right as correct or right as in legal. There are many types of non-profit organizations, some as large as international corporations. During the course of business, if you have clients for lunch the non-profit can cover it without much of an issue. I don't know of any business that pays for employee lunches for no reason, so I'm guessing you mean business related expenses. Not everyone's lunch every day, but it would be ok for a special event where there are guests, eg the Annual General Meeting, or a fund-raising event, or even maybe the AwayDay. It depends, for meetings, business lunches etc prob ok. If it is every day then that is another issue. Also if this is a Charity (donations to it are deductable) you can ask the IRS or even the charity itself for a copy of the 1029 and read it. It may spell out the approved activities thus letting you know if these are really business related lunches. If it is a big problem just dont give any money to it. The best way to police a non profit is to vote with your donations. This all assumes theis is a Charity. Most anything can be a non-profit. yes: according to the "Catholic Church it's an professional Non Profit Organization by helping those Homeless Shelters where each 1 Community supports & Builds their own sponsor's Foundation also does donate foods for Chairity today visit http://www.catholic.church.org Government & Non -Profit |
