Why is it hard for a veteran to get a job, even hotels or simple jobs wont call back? |
former miltary I wish I knew. I can't get anything except for $6/hour crap. Source(s): combat veteran sounds to me like you need to get over the woe is me and sort yourself out .. make yourself into someone worth employing maybe the jobs you are looking into have been taken by illegals. That's what everybody complains about.. I'm sorry but our ex-service people should be better taken care of by our government. They use you and then turn there backs on you... Dear old uncle Sam.... I wish you the best of LUCK...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... There are plenty of places to get help as a veteren. One site that will get you around to some help is usajobs.com, and then go to the Veterans area. Also miitaryonesource.com has good resources. I agree with the other guy who said you need to make sure your resume is up to snuff. There is help, you just have to be willing to take it. You need to seek out your local VA office. They have employment counselors who may be able to help you. In Texas, we have the Texas Workforce Commission. Your state probably has something similar. They have counselors specificially to help veterans. www.usajobs.gov is the federal website for jobs. You can upload your resume to make it easier to apply for jobs, but you will need to follow the posting requirements very specifically for the job. There are question/answer pages you will need to do. There is a big push in the fed section to hire veterans. So you actually have an advantage over everyone else. Good luck... have you tried looking for government jobs? this can be for the city, county, state, or federal. those places give preference to veterans which gives you a better shot. private companies are not required to give veterans preference, so there could be a number of reasons why you can't get a job with a private company. you should definitely look into getting a government job. you certainly earned your right to claim veteran's preference. |
