How would I go about setting up a nonprofit foundation for abused spouses and their children? Research grant oportunities being awarded for children and women of abuse. Contact your local United Way, see if they can help answer any of your questions. Also see if there is a Communinty Non-Profit organization in your area, and contact them for support. You can talk to your mayor, or city council person, they should know what needs are in the communty and guide you also. The most imprtant part when going for a grant is to have hard data that this is something your community needs. Will you have hard matches (money), soft matches( inkind services) to help this foundation off the ground after the grant expires. Well, you need to check with your local government business agency on how to set up a nonprofit foundation and find out what is the criteria. Alternatively, you can call up or email other nonprofit foundation in your country and ask them nicely how they set up a nonprofit foundation. Hope this info helps.
