I have to give a presentation for a job interview can anyone give me any help with this please?

The briefing given was -
==============================...
You will be asked to give a short presentation(5-10mins) on a subject of your choosing. This can be on anything at all . We are not looking for people to demonstrate an ability to design and deliver training, merely to get the opportunity to hear you speak in front of others about a topic you are passionate about and take questions on this from the panel if asked.

You can choose any method you like to conduct your presentation, however you will not be able to use power point or any IT equipment.
==============================...
The job I am applying for is within the civil service, and I am completely stuck on this ! Any help anyone can offer would be great !

Since you can't use PowerPoint, use the large flip sheets to illustrate your points.

The first thing to do when you walk in the room is to make eye contact with everone in the room (just scan your eyes over everyone there) and introduce yourself confidently.

Remember that whatever topic you choose your interviewers do not want to sit there trying to figure out what you're talking about so you should state this at the beginning of the presentation. For instance, if you're going to talk about why you believe nurses should receive a pay rise then you should start with "I believe that Nurses are currently underpaid and I will show you why they deserve this and how it would be financially possible."

Make sure you remain passionate so try to read as little from notes as possible so they don't think you've just got the info from Wikipedia or something. You need to know the subject like the back of your hand!!

Try to pick a subject which is related to the position you're applying to in someway but make sure it's an aspect of it that you can know enough about that they can't trip you up when they question you.
use a powerpoint prsentation, it gives them somthing to look at and gives you your prompts to talk about
first find your passion - and then speak passioately about it - don't be too controversial thogh, example: give a presentation on the flag but avoid politics like flag burning or the war. THe subject matter is not key here if you can present a passionate case for an apple, that is fine too. They want to see how you speak, and present yourself. they will probably have a Q and A after to see how you handle yourself. Have fun with it, it will help in the long run
pick a subject that you are familiar with, so that you can speak passionately about it and answer questions. the audience loves visuals and examples. although you are not allowed to use any IT equipment or slides, you can still provide people with handouts, posters. i don't know what job you're applying for, but your subject should relate to the job in some way.
Talk about something thats universal like music. I bet you have some good ideas and views on that topic.
Go to www.toastmasters.org. They have some good tips on their website. Develop a theme about something you're interesting in, create three points about it, memorize an opening and a closing, and run it by several friends and family members to get their feedback. Time it to make sure it doesn't run under or over the time allotted, but shorter is probably better than longer.
Know your stuff inside out. You got to be able to provide the correct answer when the panel asks you a question.
