I want to help people get control of their finances. I think the best way to do this would be working with a nonprofit agency((open to other suggestions)). BUT I can't find any! I am willing to do this as a volunteer. FYI: I live in South Florida so something down here would be good.
Try www.guidestar.org. Put in your city and see what comes up. A lot of charities that work with the poor will counsel people on how to get government aid like food stamps, but they don't teach what you suggest. If you go to them, you could offer to start a program, and they would probably be open to you. You could start by teaching some two-hour one-night classes in it and see if there is any interest. Also, a lot of the consumer credit counseling groups are non-profit, and you should look to see if there's anything like that locally. Some churches also have ten-week courses on managing money, and you could look into becoming a counselor or trainer for those programs too. I think this is an excellent idea: good luck! |
