Whats the secret to applying for jobs in state govt.? |
Ive never worked for the state and Im trying to apply to some jobs with the Ohio Attorney General. Are state jobs as strict when it comes to filling out applications like federal is? Has anyone been successful applying using the online application process? Fill out paperwork completely and accurately. Find out before you go in for interview, just what the job is all about. How does you past experience, education going to help you do if you get the job. Go in with a positive attitude. I hire for a state agency. I hire positive people that are organzied, etc. Good luck I work as a federal civilian employee. Have also worked as a state civil service employee. The state was easier. And yes I've had great success with both state and federal online applications. Federal has the FBI do a background check. And with my job I had to undergo a strict check due to having a security clearance. I work for the state government, you don't want to, believe me!!!!! I work for the State Government and I truly am blessed by my job and the clients that I serve everyday. Any job is what you make out of it. Evil begets evil and good begets good. Persistence, is the key. You work the job don't let the job work you. I am an HR Manager for a public entity and if you don't have prior govt experience I'd suggest you apply for entry level jobs. Be sure to be honest in your application process as they will do a thorough background check. Even if you've had something expunged from your past, it will show up. I have been a govt employee for 15 years and love it. Good luck! HRManager |
