How can you be a good employee and comfort your co-workers?

I'm starting an internship soon and am kinda nervous. I wanna be a good employee and don't really want to get into the corporate gossips or want my co-workers to be talking crapp about me. I have an extremely difficult time maintaining friends and keeping a good relationship with people. I have a good attitude but sometimes things just don't come out right and it all kinda ruins the relationship that you built.

The funny thing is I haven't even started and my manager was recently complaining to one of my friends who's worked for this place that I delayed the application process. They weren't too happy about this and it wasn't even my fault. I wanna make a good impression, be appreciated and liked by my co-workers..

Can you give me some tips on how to stay away from gossips, be successful and liked by everyone..

You can be the nicest person in the world and there will still be people who do not like you.

You have answered your own question: Stay away from gossips. Find people whose standards are like yours and spend most of your time with them. Don't let the negative people bring you down. The only people you have to please are yourself and the one who does your evaluations and signs your paycheque.

Take an assertiveness training course. They are offered at most colleges and universities. If your company offers in-house training, ask them to add it to the list of topics for future meetings, along with diversity training.

Most important: Realize that you can't change other people's behaviours, you can only decide how you will react to them. Be positive and upbeat, and when someone says something bad about someone else, let them know that you will not participate in the gossip.

Good luck.
First things first...you CANNOT make everyone happy all of the time and you SHOULD NOT spend all of your time trying.

Stay friendly and receptive to people but concentrate on your job. Don't worry about making friends right off the bat. After they get to know you a couple days, let them approach you and ask a few questions about you. Be open and receptive to them but have enough diginity to not fall on their every word thinking you must get along with everyone.

Just be yourself and be happy.

Don't give a second thought about the manager's comments. The more you worry about stuff, the worse you will make the situation. Relax and do your job. The rest will fall into place.
Do your job, keep to yourself, and be professional. Don't get caught in the trap of trying to be "friends" with your co-workers. That's where most people go wrong. Don't gossip, don't complain to others, and don't worry about others saying anything about you. The less you bother with others in the workplace, the better off you will be.

I am not saying that you shouldn't be friendly, but keep your communications professional and within reason. Don't talk about your personal life, don't chitchat, and don't "try to please" everyone.

Having been in the position of others "gossiping" about me (with no provocation, I might add) the advice I am giving you will work the best -- just keep in mind that the people you work with are not your friends. You don't know them, they don't know you, and the only reason you are working together is because of the relation of your abilities.

Good Luck!
keep away from any sort of gossips about your co workers or anyone, dont discuss about your personal life at your work place

at the same time try be friendly and helpful, be nice to everyone because its a working enviroment and people judge the way u act

Dont try to argue with your boss, just do what he/she says
and last thing be a professional because in corporate world, its professionalism that is the most important things

Hope this helps
Good luck
Work hard and be honest with people.....once they see you are working hard, they will like you......

Be yourself and I am sure you will be fine......you seem really nice and I am sure your co-workers will feel the same when they get to know you ;-)
