Transportation Security Administration Job? |
What are the requirements for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) screeners position? what is the job like? (easy, hard, somewhere in between) To get on with TSA you have to have a high school diploma or GED and if you have a year of security or law enforcement in your recent employment, that can substitute for the diploma. They tell you not to quit your job because the process of hiring is not quick as say...McDonald's. It can take up to a year to get on. After submitting an online application, you may be called to take the 3 phases of tests. But you will not be called if you don't meet the qualifications described above. The test do include what a screener looks for and how quick you can detect an item and tell the difference from a dangerous item to non threatening. Before you take these test you will have to swear that you will not reveal what you have been shown or discuss the questions on the test. Which is why I can't say...they do check these websites for this exact thing you want to know. If you pass the tests...you will find out immediately. Then there is a few months wait before you hear from them requesting an interview..which is a whole other world. If you get asked to be at an interview, it will be a month after they ask you to drive to the location. The location of the interview will most likely be a few hours drive from your town. Once you are there, you will do a color vision test of lining up colors and they have to be in order or you fail! Next there is paperwork, photo shoot, fingerprinting, and an interview with two people. You will be given a medical packet of papers to fill out and take home with you. If your background and credit check come back clean from the FBI, the airport you applied for will put in a recommendation for you to go get your physical done. Then someone will call you and set up and appointment time and FED EX you a box full of medical testing equipment. You cannot open the box...it has to stay sealed until the doctor opens it and you give him your packet of papers. This is where they put you through extensive hearing, eyesight ,drug and other test like palmar sensory test and feet test, etc. Then if you pass...you MAY get called for the position. You have to be willing to stand and walk up to 4 hours without sitting and be able to lift 50-70 lbs. also. Hope this helps.. Source(s): Shhh... it's a secret! Considering they miss over 50% of their tests then yes; I would imagine it would be VERY easy. Wouldn't know for sure though. Unless they affect me I don't keep up with them. They are all traitors anyway and deserve to be executed for being a part of the organization involved in dismantalling our constitutional rights since 9/11. TSA is part of Homeland Security which is charged with enforcing the PATRIOT act that Pres. Bush set into motion shortly after 9/11. My instructor at UCI would joke saying that 'TSA' stands for "Thousands Standing Around" not doing much. All you need besides a clean record and a HS diploma is a lot of patience to deal with the public. |
