Anyone with a degree in Sociology? |
If so, what job title do you currently hold? Was it easy for you to find it? Is experience highly necessary to obtain such position? Yes, I have a BA in Soc. My work after college was in human resources for a Fed. Gov't agency. Then I worked at a university, then at a labor union. The key here is that simply having a degree opens doors for you that would not otherwise exist. I can't say that sociology made me better in H/R, but education really teaches you how to learn, and that's what's important. I am a child protection case worker and my degree is in sociology. Look into the human services field (not human resources). There are many jobs available in non-profits, government agencies, and private agencies. Check your local workforce center and look at community and social services jobs. My job required a degree in behavioral sciences (psychology, sociology, history, etc.) and one year of human services experience, which can include anything working with people. I have previous childcare and mental health experience (but only one year). |
