Is it really about who you know when it comes to jobs, etc? |
Is it really about who you know when it comes to jobs, etc? Sometimes it is and sometimes it isn't. However, it is best that you get the job on your own this way no one can say you owe them anything. It helps if you know the job well & if people recommend Yes, most of the time. Just put yourself in the employers shoes. If you knew somebody that could do the job, or you could hire a stranger, which would it be? It's a no-brainer, kid. Work on making contacts. It's just as important as knowing your craft. sad but true I had a boss once that I really did NOT care for. But he had one saying that I did like, and I've remembered for years. "It's not who you know, it's who knows you." Merit counts most, but others have to know about you and the quality of your work. Networking has value in that it can help you get in contact with people that you would otherwise never, ever meet. Yep At this day in time it's who you know. I have gone a lot further by "Knowing" It can get you to the front of the line if you know what I mean. It's sad but a reality. Do something that really makes you stand out in the interview. Look them dead in the eyes and confident in everything you say. Know Your Job and your skills and if your a great BS****** that helps too. Good Luck with YOUR new job. |
