Humane society jobs? |
i've been given a job offer at the humane society as an animal welfare adoption counselor. i was told theres plenty of room to grow and move up in management. however it is non-profit. does the pay get any better as you move on up? does anyone know? and how do raises work, is it every few months, every year, increased by how much? Yes the pay typically gets better as you move into management. However, it will probably never be quite as high as what you could make in the private or government sectors for the same type of work. But if you're passionate about the animal welfare cause, making less money will probably be worth it because you will love your job. Not many people can say they love their job. Remember that you may be able to use the low starting salary to negotiate other benefits you want such as a flexible work schedule, bringing your dog to work with you occasionally, or whatever else may help make up for the pay. I think it's awesome you have an interest in animal welfare. Good luck! I used to work in group homes. I can tell you that in general, in the social services sector that non-profits are much better to work for then for-profits. All of the money goes back to the employees and the people (or animals in this case) being helped, and not into the business owners pocket. There are fewer attempts to cut corners, so the quality of the job will be better. Its a good offer if working with animals it what you ant to do try checking out salary.com to see what the pay would normally be how would one really love to work with animals while human beings are dying for lack of attension? pls look for charity organisations to work for okay? |
